Games

Our World Too

In 2019 we co-created this game with talented and perceptive young people (13-18 yr olds) across Hackney whose views and experiences are underrepresented. The theme of the design was countering extremist myths and narratives.

As we talked about the experiences of young people in Hackney, it became clear that developing advanced critical thinking skills are necessary to maintain personal safety and to build community resilience against fake news and extremist narratives.

Our World Too is a playful and creative game that enables difficult conversations and builds resilient responses to real life extremist narratives.

Care

A game designed by young people in care and care leavers in Wandsworth about how it really feels to grow up in care.

In 2017 we consulted with young people in care and care leavers about the issues that affect them, and co-created a game that communicates the rights and entitlements of young people in care.

Dodge That Bully

A game to help others deal with the issue of bullying from a young person’s perspective.

In 2007 we worked with a core team of young people from Barnard Adventure Playground to develop a questionnaire and conduct interviews to collect lots of young people’s real experiences with bullying. They asked participants for ideas and resolutions of how to deal with bullying, so that anyone who plays the game will have lots of different strategies of how to respond to bullying if it happens to them.

Drop a Knife, Save a Life

Consultation and designed board game about how young people see knife crime and what they think can be done about it.

In 2009 we developed this game with two young people from Barnard Adventure Playground using the responses from questionnaires sent to schools, clubs, adventure playgrounds and youth centres around London. The game aims to inspire young people and adults to make a difference and help make people feel safer in their area, going to school, going out with friends and getting on buses and other forms of public transport.

A Slice of the Cake

A game designed to enable young people understand the dilemmas and decisions involved in planning a budget.

In 2005 we consulted with young people at a breakfast clubs, youth groups, adventure playgrounds, Pupil Referral Units, the Children’s Active Involvement Service (CAIS) and Schools to develop a budget consultation board game aimed at young people.

The Good The Bad and The Ugly

A game designed by young people to find out how they would make best use of the new Arsenal football stadium public spaces.

In 2005 we consulted with young people across Islington about the new Arsenal stadium podium and Eden Grove public spaces, using board game workshops as a tool to help focus attention, make it fun and get people communicating with each other.

The results of this consultation were creatively presented in the form of a board game. This new game was then used as a consultation tool for young people to play on other sites.
